Ask A Video Artist – Jessie Scott

The Video Artist:

Jessie Scott is a video artist and programmer who has worked across the spectrum of screen culture in Melbourne for over 7 years. She is a prolific collaborator and a founding member of Tape Projects temporal art collective, and has worked in the Australian Centre for the Moving Image’s digital storytelling and regional documentary programs. Her solo practice is primarily concerned with the construction of public place and memory, and with documenting sites of gentrification around her hometown as it faces increasing population pressure and corporate-led urban development. In past projects she has looked at public and private performance of gender and femininity. She has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally in a range of Artist Run and underground art spaces, festivals and screenings.  In 2009 she completed an Australia Council funded internship with Wholphin (San Francisco), in 2011 was artist in residence at Barkly Arts Centre (Footscray), and was part of West Space’s inaugural Today Your Love Program with a residency and live art performance.
